Microsoft HoloLens to be available in six more countries in November

Microsoft has started taking pre-orders of their HoloLens product in Australia, Ireland, France, Germany, New Zealand, and the UK. HoloLens will start to be shipped at the beginning of November.

In November Microsoft will broaden the availability of its HoloLens augmented-reality goggles to 6 more countries.

Back in January 2015 Microsoft first showed off in public their HoleLens device, following this Microsoft shipped the HoloLens developer kits in the U.S and Canada in late March 2016. Initially the device was only available to a limited amount of developers who were pre-selected by Microsoft. In August, Microsoft made HoloLens available to anyone in the U.S and Canada who was willing to pay $3,000 for the item.

Just to clarify there are 2 different options for HoloLens buyers. The Development Edition is $3,000 and The Commercial Suite costing $5,000 however it does include security and device management capabilities. These prices are for the U.S only.

Windows 10 developers and business users are prime target audiences for the current HoloLens headset. (HoloLens runs a variant of Windows 10 inside.)

Microsoft have plans to add Windows Holographic support to Windows 10 PC’s running “Redstone 2”. Redstone 2 is the going to be the next major update to Windows 10, it is foreseen to be obtainable commercially around the Spring of 2017, and it is also working hard to lure PC and device makers to build Windows Holographic-based devices of their own.

No official figures have been released by Microsoft stating how many HoloLens headsets have been sold to date.
